Whispers of Creepy Gothic in the Story of Evin Sahibi

Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, who contributed to the field of horror literature with the story of “Evin Sahibi,” in a sense embodied the terrible thoughts in this story. It is seen that gothic images/elements of fear are also used in the story, which is a reflection of fear. The aforementioned story was read from a gothic point of view for the formation of this article. The gothic elements that emerged as a result of this reading were examined under six headings and it was tried to be understood how Tanpınar spread these elements in his work. Tanpınar gives direction to gothic literature by using horror elements. It is interesting that in Turkish literature, such use of gothic elements by Tanpınar between frightening landscapes and a suffocating atmosphere, but the scenes that can be seen in horror movies take place in the story. The aim of the article is to evaluate the work, which can be counted among the horror stories, around gothic motifs.
